Alec Baldwin Files Four Lawsuits Against Rust Production

The award winning actor and producer is currently in England filming his first movie role since the infamous ‘Rust’ set shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The incident was also a cause for concern for director Joel Souza who was injured when a gun accidentally discharged on the set. As a result, several of the cast and crew have filed lawsuits against the production and its various incarnations. In addition, the state of New Mexico has allocated funds for possible criminal prosecutions.

Several lawsuits have been filed against the movie crew, but there are still four unresolved ones in the pipeline. Baldwin is named as a defendant in two of those suits. The other two are filed by Wojciech Cieszkowski and Seth Kenney, respectively. Among those, a legal team representing the latter is requesting a search warrant before the police can confiscate his cellphone.

Despite being the recipient of many accolades, including two Emmys and a Primetime Emmy nod, Baldwin has yet to earn the dubious honor of being named the best actor in a leading role. He is also a frequent target of vitriol, most notably for his post car crash eulogy. In fact, he was recently subjected to a Twitter tirade by Anne Heche, who accused him of “being a ‘good boy’ and sending her a’sorry’ message” after she was injured in a car crash. Regardless, Baldwin’s remorse is not what it used to be.

Although Baldwin is certainly not the only actor to be hit with a law suit, the news is bad news for an industry renowned for its adherence to safety regulations. In addition to Baldwin, the director, his stunt double and the armorer have all been implicated in the fatal shooting. This comes on the heels of an investigation into the incident, which was launched by the Santa Fe area District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies. The aforementioned investigation has also been linked to the aforementioned unionized employees, who walked off the set after complaining of unsafe working conditions.

In addition to the aforementioned case, Alec Baldwin is also being sued in two other unrelated defamation cases, one of which he is the only defendant in. He has been named a defendant in four other lawsuits, and has a few more on the way. In total, he is being accused of being involved in more than a dozen acts of sabotage, according to a statement released by the state’s Department of Justice. Considering the fact that the ‘Rust’ shooting was a reoccurring incident, he and his company are being held liable for millions of dollars.

In spite of all of this, the award winning actor still maintains that he has nothing to hide and doesn’t assume any blame for the incident. In addition to his own legal team, his wife Hilaira is a vocal supporter and her father reportedly has his own lawyers in the works.

Unlike his predecessors, the actor has been able to avoid a full-blown public relations nightmare, though his actions still have a definite deterrent effect. His latest show of piety was a Twitter response to the aforementioned Variety article.
