Alive on the River in Patchogue, Long Island

The Patchogue Riverfront is a place to be if you love boating, fishing, and good old-fashioned fun. During the summer months the town hosts a number of waterfront events, including the aforementioned Patchogue Alive on the River. Sponsors include Malibu, Miller Light, Paddle Pub, and H2O Limo. Other events include a parade of the boats, fireworks on Memorial Day, and the famous Patchogue River Fair.

Alive on the River is a fun and free event hosted by the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce. It is a well-timed celebration of the waterfront and the surrounding town. Participating restaurants will show off the best of what Long Island has to offer. Among those are the Oar Steak & Seafood Grill, Dublin Deck Tiki Bar & Grill, and Off Key Tiki. The Patchogue Alive on the River also includes an award-winning car show and salute to our troops. Those who don’t want to get wet can take in the festivities from the comfort of their living room. This event is one of the hottest tickets in town.

There are a number of events that will be taking place this weekend, but the most fun is definitely the live music and waterfront activities. To top it off, the Qwik Ride has a number of options for enjoying the long summer days. In the grand scheme of things, you could easily spend a night on the town and still be within your budget. For the more adventurous, you may choose to hire a water taxi. If you’re lucky you’ll even get a complimentary dock slip at the nearby Island View Marina. Alternatively, you can just park your car in one of the many public spots along the river front.

The sea fair is an annual event that celebrates the maritime sea life. The Sea Fair River Parade can be seen from just about anywhere on the river. While the event is fun for all ages, the festivities will probably have a distinctly nautical flair. Check out the Sea Fair River Festival website for information on how to participate. From there you’ll want to check out the Sea Fair Museum, which is home to the largest ship model on Long Island, as well as the aforementioned Alive on the River.
