Artist Alexa Jacobs

Alexa Jacobs found success as an artist despite her difficult childhood, currently living with her family in Deadwood, South Dakota and working alongside her father Scott as his assistant at his gallery.

This episode follows the couple as they visit projects to assess needs, learning an invaluable lesson about giving back and being true to one’s roots.

Early Life and Education

Jacobs lived a full and fulfilling life, from drag racing as a teenager and competitive sports angling (she caught a 572-pound blue marlin once!) to her philanthropy work at Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens where her unrestricted $4 million gift has been recognized as “one of our biggest single donations” according to president and CEO Bruce Harkey.

As part of her dedication to Columbus Urban League’s workforce development efforts – particularly its workforce reentry program for those recently arrested or imprisoned – she was an enthusiastic supporter and chairperson of CCAD Fashion Show 2011. Additionally, her love lives on both in these organizations as well as through the artwork that she painted with Scott over many years.

Professional Career

Alexa graduated law school and quickly secured employment at a large firm in Boston where she focused on product liability litigation. However, after she found her passion for professional development of other lawyers she transitioned into her current role – leading legal talent management, diversity & inclusion programs and pro bono initiatives.

Jacobs was participating in a training exercise known as “Beat Down Friday” on February 4 when she collapsed and, according to her lawsuit, officers Jeremy Pallone-De La Torre and Andrew Cabral failed to administer critical care until it was too late.

Jacobs Media is an established radio brand with national reach. Their flagship station WAILUKU ranks fifth in its market and their content can be found across various platforms such as podcasts and social media.

Achievement and Honors

Alexa Jacobs has earned her place on Kutztown University’s Dean’s List by studying Administration of Justice with a concentration in criminal law. Additionally, she is considering becoming either a SWAT officer or canine officer and loves Peyton and Eli Manning, Italian food, “Law & Order”, as well as the Denver Broncos.

As an artist, she frequently saves images as sources of inspiration. One day when she saw a photograph showing a woman biting a bullet she instantly knew what she wanted to create: Smoking Gun was born! After quickly sketching out this image on extra canvas and painting over it with pencil, this stunning masterpiece now hangs proudly in Deadwood near Sturgis where the famous motorcycle rally occurs.

Personal Life

Personality-wise, she prefers keeping things private. She does not care what people think of her; instead she prefers being out of the limelight so people can judge her only through her music.

She is a highly motivated artist, learning painting under her father Scott Jacobs for several years before developing her own unique photorealist style of contemporary photorealism.

She enjoys spending time with family and friends and giving back to the community through her work; she has donated to various organizations such as Columbus Urban League, Columbus College of Art and Design and Franklin Park Conservatory; she was instrumental in developing OSU Small Animal Vet Center.
