Bill Comrie is on an upward trajectory in California. Surrounded by celebrity neighbors and paparazzi photographers, his sons Eric and Ty are also making moves toward pro hockey careers.

Comrie, founder of Canadian furniture store The Brick, noticed his 10-year-old son Mike did not have access to an appropriate tournament.

Early Life and Education

Bill Comrie hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada and is best-known as one of the founding members of furniture store The Brick.

He is also a former New York City Council Member who represented Queens’ 29th District for twelve years as its Deputy Majority Leader and Chair of Queens Delegation. While there, he had broad oversight and direct access to some of the largest member items or discretionary funds within legislative body.

As well as his political activities, Comrie is also well known as an experienced hockey player. He is the father of professional ice hockey players Mike, Paul and Eric; as well as being Ty Comrie’s grandfather.

Professional Career

Bill Comrie is widely recognized as being one of the most successful furniture businesses in Canada. In 1971, after declining an invitation from Chicago Blackhawks training camp and opting instead to focus on supporting his family and expanding business, he founded The Brick.

Bill is an attentive father. He has two sons named Mike and Paul as well as one daughter named Cathy. Additionally, Bill has been married twice – first to Theresa who died of cancer, and later Roxanne Huisman.

Hockey is his passion. He enjoys watching his children participate in it with their competitive spirits driving them forward. Additionally, he loves traveling.

Though currently living in California, he considers himself to still be from Edmonton. He and his family frequently visit their home there. Furthermore, they’re avid Chicago Cubs fans; frequently attending games together and even purchasing season tickets!
