Cindy Williams was born in Van Nuys on August 22, 1947 to Francesca, a waitress, and Beachard, an electronics engineer. As a child she produced amateur plays as part of her dream to become an actress; after attending Birmingham High School she majored in theater arts at Los Angeles City College before graduating.

Early Life and Education

Cynthia Jane Williams was born in Van Nuys, California on August 22, 1947 with the star sign Leo. Her parents Francesca Bellini and Beachard Williams worked as electronic technicians and waiters respectively; Cynthia also had one sister Carol Ann Williams as well as an older half-brother named Jim from Francesca Bellini’s previous marriages.

Williams began acting in school plays while at Birmingham High School. Soon after she graduated and moved on to TWA and Foster Grant sunglasses commercials; additionally she appeared as an episode on Room 222 and Nanny and the Professor before being accepted at Los Angeles City College to major in theatre arts.

Her breakthrough came in 1975 when she guest starred as Shirley Feeney on Happy Days as a beer bottle capper. Due to the overwhelming response she received for this role, Garry Marshall decided to give Laverne and Shirley their own show from 1976-1982.

Her breakthrough role came as Shirley Feeney on the hit sitcom ‘Laverne and Shirley’ from 1976-1982, winning four Emmy awards. Additionally she made appearances in films by George Cukor (Travels with my Aunt) and Francis Ford Coppola (The Conversation), earning two BAFTA nominations as a result of these performances.

In 1974, she earned critical and popular acclaim with Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘The Conversation’ and received critical and popular acclaim. However, the highpoint of her career would come ten years later in 1975 when her guest appearance on Happy Days as Shirley Feeney proved pivotal – Garry Marshall even decided to commission a spin-off series featuring both Shirley Feeney and Penny Marshall’s Laverne from 1976 – 1982!

Williams married musician and actor Bill Hudson in 1982 and they have one child together: son and daughter. Together, they reside at Yellow Creek Community in Robbinsville, North Carolina where she also belongs.
