Crystal Adams is an LPC with 14+ years of experience helping individuals deal with Stress, Depression, Life Transitions and other mental health concerns. She specializes in supporting stress relief.
She works closely with clients to help them establish and sustain healthy habits, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Integrative Counseling and Person Centered Therapy techniques as her specialty.
Early Life and Education
Crystal, a bi-racial Black woman, developed an early passion for civil rights and equity. Knowing she wanted to contribute significantly to public interest on a national scale, Crystal attended college with this aim in mind.
At Claremont McKenna, she had the opportunity to study in Washington, DC, which sparked an interest in law. DC gave her an outlet through which to shape and implement reforms with wide-reaching consequences across the nation.
Today, she works for the National Center for Youth Law (NCYL), litigating systemic lawsuits to advance youth rights across the nation.
Professional Career
Graduate of UCI Law and National Center for Youth Law, she works on systemic lawsuits to advance young people’s rights and improve their lives throughout the nation. Her efforts have helped shape policy that improves their lives.
Adams is also a certified life and health coach, helping her clients uncover emotions, learned beliefs and fears that may be holding them back from being their best selves. To this end she uses mindfulness meditation practices along with Pilates in her daily regiment – mindfulness for stress reduction while Pilates for relaxation purposes are her go-tos for bodywork sessions. In her free time she enjoys golfing with her 10- and 4-year old daughters and recently took on leadership responsibilities within their local chamber of commerce to foster an engaged community environment.
Achievement and Honors
Crystal Adams is an exceptional educational leader who has made an impressionful mark in her community since 2005 when she started teaching. Since then she has held multiple leadership roles within her school district.
She earned both her undergraduate and graduate education degrees at Auburn University before proceeding to complete both master’s and doctoral degrees in education.
Lifelong resident of Nacogdoches, she has over 11 years of experience working in public education – holding various roles at elementary, middle and secondary levels.
She currently directs the Stephen F. Austin State University Early Childhood Laboratory, working closely with families and their children. Additionally, she serves on the faculty of SFA’s Perkins College of Education.

Crystal is an extremely active individual who places great value in her family and friendships. Additionally, she’s highly involved in her community and strives to put God first at all times.
As a graduate and alumna of UCI Law, she is passionate about civil rights. As an attorney with the National Center for Youth Law (NCYL), she represents young people throughout the nation through systemic lawsuits that fight to promote their rights.
NCYL staffer Samantha Johnson manages the year-round internship program and collaborates with UCI Law students on policies affecting young people. Her dedication and desire to make the world better remain with her even after she leaves NCYL; both family and friends will miss her dearly.
