Dan Haggart – A Prolific Country Music Legend

Dan was a partner at Advantage Solutions in Cornelius, NC and took great pleasure in spending time with his wife Emily and son Trenton. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he will be missed by those he knew and loved him including his father Robert Haggart of Wheeling; sister Louise Rowse of Cornelius; and brother Tim Haggart Jr. of North Carolina.

Early Life and Education

Haggart attended Yankton College and Drake Divinity School, earning both degrees: Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Master of Divinity respectively. Additionally, two years were completed of Intentional Interim Ministry work.

Haggard was raised in Neosho, Missouri and graduated high school at 17. After attending university he embarked on his career path of becoming a minister and serving in communities such as Neosho, Yates Center, Girard Chanute and Columbus.

On July 18th 2014, Cara Neil was killed by Daniel Haggart after they became embroiled in an argument outside Soul Food Books on Redmond Way in Redmond. Dan Haggart worked as a Category Manager at Advantage Solutions. A dedicated fan of sports, Dan loved watching his son participate in sporting events while living in Cornelius, North Carolina. Haggard was an ardent husband and father who enjoyed hunting and outdoor recreation. As an avid sports fan he would cheer for his son Trenton at his athletic events, leaving his memory with all who knew and loved him. We will greatly miss him.

Redmond resident Daniel Haggart pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for stabbing 17-year-old Cara Neil to death outside SoulFood Books at 15748 Redmond Way on July 18th 2014 when Neil came to her defense after Haggart attacked and stabbed his girlfriend, according to police documents.

Haggard released A Tribute to the Best Damn Fiddle Player in the World as a tribute album for Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, helping spark a lasting revival for western swing while simultaneously expanding its reach among audiences worldwide. This record would eventually go on to win four Grammy awards!
