Dan Hussar – A Pharmacist and Grandfather

Daniel Hussar

In April 2015, pharmacist Dan Hussar completed treatment for acute myeloid leukemia and felt well afterwards – only to discover seven months later that his cancer had returned.

Hussar serves as Remington Professor of Pharmacology at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and belongs to multiple professional organizations, as well as being a prolific writer and speaker.

Early Life and Education

Long periods spent working in marginalised organizations held together by string and tape can take their toll, crushing spirits with one defeat after the next and fuelling anarchic tendencies that lead to an eventual descent into psychopathism. Daniel was an extraordinary and remarkable example.

He had an intensely affective personality – intrigued by people and all of their quirks and oddities, eager to meet and make new acquaintances, generous with his time, open to debate regardless of profound political differences.

After the LCR split in 1992, he supported both dissident factions with gusto but without triumphalism, understanding that building a revolutionary party is like striving for absolute love in Duras’ novels – impossible but nonetheless necessary. Additionally, he served as an example of pluralism within Marxist movements.

Professional Career

Hussar spent his career at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at University of the Sciences, earning his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D degrees there. As one of the most influential pharmacists of his generation, he has taught thousands of students. Additionally, his writings cover new medications and their interactions with existing drugs as well as nonprescription drug therapy, patient safety concerns, smoking cessation strategies and other professional issues that concern pharmacists.

He served on the Board of Trustees for American Pharmacists Association as well as president for both Drug Information Association and Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association, and currently sits on Christian Pharmacist Fellowship International and World Vision United States boards. Additionally, in 2017 APhA awarded him with their highest recognition – The Remington Honor Medal – as their highest recognition of profession leadership.

Achievement and Honors

Hussar holds memberships in numerous professional organizations and was past-president of both the Drug Information Association and Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association. Additionally, he sits on the Board of Directors for Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International.

He served on the Board of Trustees of the American Pharmacists Association and as past presidents of Pharmaceutical Care Management Society, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Drug Information Association and Pennsylvania Pharmacists’ Association.

He served as honorary chairman for the 2021 Noble Rot Soho awards dinner held at St John’s College, Cambridge, as a way of paying his wife Mary Ann (Sroka) Hussar tribute after she passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021.

Personal Life

Hussar serves as Remington Professor of Pharmacy at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at University of the Sciences, as well as being a member of various professional organizations such as American Pharmacists Association, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Drug Information Association and Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association. Married to Mary Ann Sroka with three children Christina (Hank Hanasik), Daniel and Jeffrey; Hussar was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in April 2015 and received treatment through MSK’s IDH2-targeted therapy clinical trial at MSK.

Net Worth

Hussar makes significant sums through YouTube ads – roughly $2 Million annually – as well as his Instagram and podcast accounts, podcast sales, merchandise sales through Kramoda Coffee Company and merchandise sales via his Kramoda Coffee brand. All this income streams has allowed Hussar to increase his net worth significantly.

He rose to fame through Vine alongside Zane Hijazi, later creating his own YouTube channel and joining David Dobrik’s comedy unit called the Vlog Squad. Together they have collaborated with other sensations on Vine.

Hussar is currently dating dancer Mariah Amato but prefers to keep their relationship quiet and private. They reside in Plantation, Florida.
