Dan is a family physician and has an interest in the effects of telemedicine on patient care. Additionally, he conducts research into interpersonal communication within residency programs.

Early Life and Education

He has been an active part of his local community and a tireless champion in integrating the museum into Lubbock, Abilene and Midland-Odessa’s culture. With extensive experience comes many fresh perspectives that he brings to the museum.

Schlegel’s later philosophical work made important contributions to the history of idealism, particularly with respect to his conception that each literary work provides its own criteria (Athenaeumsfragment 116). Furthermore, this dialogue revived formative questions concerning art/literature/philosophy relations such as Plato’s ancient conflict (Lacoue-Labarthe and Nancy 1978).

Schlegel established two journals during his time in Austria and lectured extensively on numerous subjects ranging from modern European history (1810) and German/Greek art (1811) to figurative arts, yet never completed (see PhilPapers). Philosophers interested in Schlegelian idealism have, in addition to his published works, access to an expansive yet incomplete textual resource: his Philosophical Apprenticeship fragments.

Professional Career

Schlegel had an ingenious plan when he left the NFL: create a product. More specifically, a weighted glove that would help his teammates shed 350-pound linemen.

He has served as a family physician at Penn State Health, teaching medical students and residents. Additionally, he is interested in how telehealth could improve patient care.

Schlegel currently serves as Chief of Staff to New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, overseeing administration policies and communicating them to the public. Prior to being appointed as chief of staff, he worked as Senior Advisor to an earlier Governor. Furthermore, his background includes business management and engineering work at Linde Material Handling and Hyster Yale.

Achievement and Honors

Daniel Schlegel has tirelessly dedicated the past eight years to keeping Snyder’s Scurry County Museum on the public’s radar, making sure it doesn’t become lost amid its own display of museums in a town where museums may go overlooked without new content on display.

Erich has published research in telehealth and is the medical director for Family and Community Medicine telehealth at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Additionally, he serves as faculty for their Family Medicine Residency Program Faculty Member program.

Schlegel has not only excelled academically but has also distinguished himself in government and politics. He served as Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s gubernatorial Chief of Staff before going on to sit on various non-profit Boards of Directors.

Personal Life

Schlegel was raised in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and graduated with a major in Biology and Psychology from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster before matriculating at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Today he practices family medicine while exploring how telemedicine can expand access to care.
