The Daniels Scholarship Program enables high-achieving students from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming to realize their dreams by offering comprehensive college scholarships that cover tuition/fees/room/board costs as well as books/supplies costs.

Candidates are assessed on their strength of character, leadership potential, academic performance and promise, commitment to service and resources available beyond financial aid.

Early Life and Education

The Daniels Scholarship was initiated by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels to offer students access to higher education. This comprehensive college scholarship covers tuition fees, room and board costs, books and other expenses associated with education. Scholars are selected based on character strength, leadership potential and commitment to serving their communities – values held dear by Bill Daniels himself: integrity, honesty, loyalty entrepreneurship patriotism.

Becoming a Daniels Scholar requires being an academically ambitious graduating high school senior planning to enroll at an accredited two- or four-year, nonprofit independent college or university in the US, with plans of earning their bachelor’s degree within five years of matriculating high school. You must also demonstrate financial need through an assessment of your Adjusted Gross Income, parents/legal guardians’ income/assets as well as other personal details.

Bill Daniels was deeply committed to serving his local community, making a mark through the Daniels Fund by providing grants and college scholarships through two separate programs. His legacy lives on in these efforts.

The foundation also operates an ethics initiative to foster principle-based ethics. Furthermore, its board has amassed an extensive collection of Bill Daniels’ letters and writings as well as commissioning researchers to uncover any additional material they may find.

This scholarship program targets high school seniors from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah or Wyoming who intend to attend two- or four-year nonprofit, accredited colleges or universities and pays towards any unmet financial need following consideration of Estimated Family Contribution, federal loans, work study agreements and scholarship or grant aid received.

The scholarship is a four-year, highly competitive program that covers tuition, room and board, books, fees and other educational expenses for students with an Expected Family Contribution below $250,000. It is awarded to students whose expected family contributions fall below $250,000.

The Daniels Scholarship was founded by late cable TV pioneer Bill Daniels to give high school seniors with character, leadership and commitment to serving their communities the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree at any college or university of their choosing.

To qualify, students must obtain an ACT composite score of at least 17 or an SAT math and critical reading score of 400/440 respectively, along with evidence of financial need. Daniels Scholars will receive not only academic scholarships but also personalized and professional development support at their chosen university.

Bill Daniels believed that education and employment lay at the core of personal and community success, so he invested in young people by funding their studies and helping them launch businesses.

Young Americans Bank was established as the first bank specifically for youth, offering scholarships to students from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Furthermore, he distributed his cable empire and gave away its mansion (Cableland).

The Daniels Scholarship Program offers a four-year college scholarship designed to cover tuition and fees at any nonprofit, accredited institution in the U.S. after other scholarships and financial aid has been applied for. Recipients are chosen from among applicants exhibiting exceptional character and leadership potential.
