Darlene Adams was born June 21, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charley and Minnie Nance Adams and spent her early years on their family farm where she became passionate about horses, skilled at breaking them and riding them regularly.

She married Larry Roberts on December 19th 1966 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had two children and she also had one granddaughter. She passed away peacefully in Nashville North Carolina on October 19th 2012. She will be greatly missed by many and remembered fondly for her kindness and love – truly an inspiration to many! In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to a charity of your choice.

Professional Career

Darlene Adams has made her mark as an executive at some of the world’s premier hotels and resorts, such as The Peninsula Beverly Hills in Los Angeles where she held several high-ranking roles including Senior Vice President of Sales. One of her notable achievements at The Peninsula was creating an exciting retail and food destination at The Peninsula for guests to experience during their visit to Los Angeles.

As well as serving on the board of directors of Big River Economic and Agricultural Development Alliance (BREADA), which operates Red Stick Farmers Markets in Baton Rouge. She dedicated much of her time and effort to foster an ecosystem of local businesses that support Louisiana’s small family specialty crop farmers.

Personal Life

Darlene Adams was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She greatly valued her family, shared laughter with everyone around her and was passionate about cooking – an avid hobby that she took great pleasure in doing.

She was an ardent horse enthusiast. She rode, trained, and broke horses to be part of Boots and Saddle Riding Club.

Her passion for horses compelled her to build a home for rescue animals, while also being an excellent photographer who enjoyed taking images of nature scenes.

Ken and she resided for many years in Valley City until Ken was called as pastor at Wahpeton, North Dakota, prompting their move there. While in Valley City she also ran a book store. Lacy Adams (Allen Jacobsen), Megan Lovan, Jordon Roberts, Tayler Gole and Mackenzie Roberts brought great joy into her life and nine more great-grandchildren completed this picture of happiness for her life.
