Marie Dorion was an inspiring pioneer who traveled the Pacific Northwest with her husband and children. Her tenacity, strength of character, and life-long dedication to their cause enabled them to make it there.
Early Life and Education
Dave Dorion was born and raised in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Quebec, Canada. As the child of a Dutch immigrant family, he acquired an excellent command of French as well.
He received his post-secondary degree from a university in Pennsylvania and worked as a telecom technician before relocating to the US to pursue work in Public Safety. Currently, he resides in Asotin, Washington.
Marie Dorion was one of the earliest Native women to venture West and her story stands as a testament to courage, uncompromising physical strength, mental anguish and true love. Although her trail in the winter snows has disappeared and her campsite unknown, her story lives on through some Milton-Freewater residents working hard to ensure her legacy is not forgotten – creating Marie Dorion Historical Park as a fitting tribute.

David Dorion is a highly sought-after professional coach whose mission it to translate vision into action. He assists organizations and companies reach their full potential through strategic planning, executive coaching, business writing and consulting services.
He also coaches managers individually and groups for success, aiding them in devising creative strategies to reach their objectives. A skilled communicator with a proven record for delivering results, he provides guidance and direction.
He was an esteemed member of the Superior-Greenstone District School Board family and held various leadership roles within it, culminating in his role as Board President. Through his commitment to student achievement and wellbeing, he helped foster a learning culture within the district that reflected his dedication. Furthermore, he guided their small school board through changes within public education policy making – giving it a voice.
Achievements and Honors
Dave dorion earned all-Canadian status three times while playing for the McGill Redmen hockey team. He won the Bobby Bell Trophy as their most outstanding player and went on to be named CIS defenceman of the year in his final two seasons. Additionally, he made both Principal’s Student-Athlete Honour Roll and earned a BLG Award.
In his first season as Ottawa Senators general manager, Dorion guided the club to its second-best regular season record in a decade and into the Stanley Cup playoffs. To his roster he added stars such as Alex Burrows, Viktor Stalberg and Derick Brassard.
He previously coached the Vienna Capitals of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, Austria’s top professional league. Recently he received a contract extension from the Senators with an option for 2024-25.

Dave Dorion has always had an uncanny knack for finding the ideal player for his team. Additionally, he’s a great listener and eager to discuss players’ goals, dreams and aspirations with them.
He loves watching games and following the development of young players, which has allowed him to be a successful scout in the NHL.
Dorion has extensive hockey experience, having worked with the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators. During his nine years with Ottawa, he served as assistant general manager under Bryan Murray before being promoted to eighth GM in team history. Now Dorion looks forward to applying his expertise towards making the Senators a winning team.
