David Bournazian
David Bournazian is a highly acclaimed first-chair litigator who is trusted by his clients to handle even the most intricate disputes. With extensive expertise in business negotiation and an effective approach to problem solving, David brings both professional knowledge and practical insight to every dispute he handles.
He is a partner in the Orange County office of K&L Gates and has 15 years’ experience in litigation and business negotiation.
Early Life and Education
David Bournazian’s career in education spanned 53 years. He began as a teacher in Pittsfield, MA before moving to Rotterdam, NY in 1964 where he spent 41 years at Mohonasen High School.
He was instrumental in turning the band program at his high school into a national contender. Additionally, he instilled positive thinking amongst students and fellow musicians.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Bournazian; two sons, George and Jacob Bournazian; as well as four grandchildren: David Jacob, David Giovanni, George, and Ani. A member of Soorp Khatch Armenian Apostolic Church and founder and president of Kingston Retired Teacher’s Federation, he leaves behind a legacy to those he loved most: teaching children.
Professional Career
He was an accomplished musician and music educator. After playing saxophone in the Army band, he toured America with Neal Hefti’s big band. Additionally, he taught at North Junior High School and Pittsfield High School in Massachusetts.
From 1964 until 2005, Bournazian served as music director and musical director for Mohonasen Central School District in Albany, NY. He directed their Senior High Concert Band, Marching/Field Show Band, Stage Band, and Winter Color Guard organizations.
He was an active participant in the Mohonasen Teachers Association for 53 years, serving on their Executive Board as Retirement delegate. Additionally, he founded Kingston Retired Teacher’s Federation and continued his involvement as a board member for many years.
Achievement and Honors
Bournazian was an esteemed music educator who set the bar high and earned himself many accolades along the way. He earned recognition as father to Mohonasen High School Marching Buccaneers and twice received recognition by his peers as one of Wisconsin’s finest teachers – an accolade which was presented twice.
He was the author of Medical Device Software: Verification, Validation and Compliance (2010, Artech Publishing), which became a best seller in its category. Additionally, his legal acumen earned him positions as general counsel for an international software company and Frank Gehry Partners LLP – an acclaimed architectural firm. Furthermore, his witticisms, good natured nature and generosity were well known to those around him; a member of Soorp Khatch Armenian Apostolic Church as well as active community leader as well as dedicated husband, parent and friend alike.
Personal Life
David Bournazian was an esteemed music teacher and professional performer. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts and living in Pittsfield, Massachusetts before moving to Albany, New York in 1964, his career took him across the country.
He was a loving husband and father to his two children, whom he raised with Vivian as his partner in business. They purchased a ranch on Jackson Creek in 1948 and continued to run it together until their passing in 2011.
The couple took great pleasure in spending time outdoors, riding their four-wheelers along fence lines. Additionally, they adored their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
