David Gillan is a Senior Vice President of Sourcing Operations for Vizient. He’s also part of their Supply Chain Strategy Council and was recognized as one of the top 10 people to watch by The Journal of Healthcare Contracting.
He is also a member of the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, having recently been appointed to this council where he will collaborate with representatives from other community depository institutions.
Early Life and Education
David Gillan was born on March 13, 1916 in Sidney Mines, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and worked as a miner before joining the Canadian Army.
He volunteered for military service in France and served with the 85th Battalion of Cape Breton Highlanders. Tragically, he was killed in action during riots at Kinmel Park Camp on March 5, 1919.
He then joined Deep Purple, leading them from 1969 until 1973 when he left to rejoin Black Sabbath for one year before rejoining Deep Purple again in 1993. Nowadays, Gillan serves as a member of New York State Teachers’ Retirement System and works as Managing Director – Global Real Estate Investments and Commercial Lending; additionally, he is an active philanthropist.
