David Loucks was an accomplished musician and choir director. He provided musical services throughout the Pacific Northwest region, playing bass guitar, keyboards, vocals and more professionally.

He was an accomplished performer, appearing with many bands, ensembles, and choirs as a singer or soloist. Additionally, his songs could be found on many movie and television show soundtracks.

Early Life and Education

On August 8, 1941 in Gloversville, NY, David Loucks was born to Edwin and Marion Hastings Loucks and went on to attend Whitefish Bay High School before eventually attending UWM where he served as president of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity during 1957.

He was an accomplished athlete, educator, coach, home builder, woodworker and businessman. He was known for being tough, kind, generous and hardworking – an honorable and authentic leader who demonstrated true character and excellence.

He was married to Diane Henderson Loucks for 58 years and together, they raised three sons, Steve, Brad, and Eric. A member of St Monica’s Church in Whitefish Bay and an avid outdoorsman. Dan loved any challenge that involved strength or athletic ability; he will be missed dearly by family and friends alike.

Professional Career

David Loucks has been singing professionally for more than two decades and has performed alongside some of the biggest artists as well as being featured in various music videos.

His Hip and Knee Practice provides comprehensive treatments for a range of issues. Over his 10 year tenure in this field he has successfully helped numerous patients recover from injuries.

He is an authority in the energy industry and serves on several public and private companies in this sector as director. Additionally, he acts as consultant, investor, and other roles. Beginning as an accountant before eventually becoming the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a publicly traded exploration and production company sourcing and closing acquisitions while accessing both public and private capital markets was his forte.

Achievement and Honors

David Loucks was an extraordinary musician with an extensive career as a studio singer, vocal contractor, and arranger. He worked alongside well-known acts like Katy Perry, Pentatonix, and 30 Seconds to Mars among many others.

As part of his career, he earned numerous honors and awards including receiving the Page One Citation and Hopedale Unitarian Universalist Community Service Award among others.

John was also renowned in science research, developing one of the first methods for manipulating electrical activity of awake, behaving animals’ brains to study learning and memory. As an accomplished member of the Society of Neuroscience he earned distinguished status. A devoted family man, John left behind his wife and three children upon his passing on March 7, 1995.

Personal Life

David was a superb musician with an offbeat sense of humor. He excelled as a composer, arranger, musician, orchestrator, producer, engineer and engineer who worked extensively on films, commercials, soundtracks and CD/Album production projects.

He was widely respected for his outstanding instrumental and vocal compositions, arrangements and orchestrations as well as his versatile bass playing skills. A true virtuoso who played professionally across numerous ensembles, bands, choirs and orchestras.

At 43 years old, David Loucks was married to Debby Loucks for 43 years and leaves behind Jonathan and Jennifer as well as numerous grandchildren from their union. Shawn Swenson and Joseph Gardner attempted to kill and steal music equipment from Loucks’ Aurora Avenue recording studio in 1995. Following an assault, Swenson shot Loucks repeatedly with a stun gun before killing him; along with Gardner they also tied, kicked, zapped, gagged, hogtied, gagged with tape him while using force against Loucks’ partner Joseph Walker.
