Pendley is one of North Carolina’s most beloved bluegrass musicians and the mandolin player and lead/harmony vocalist for the Whitewater Bluegrass Company. He frequently performs at Fiddlin’ Pig in Asheville and can be heard performing at festivals and other venues throughout the state.

On Monday in Las Vegas, police arrested Pendley after a student reported him engaging in sexual conduct with her over six months. He was charged with six counts of school employee in a position of authority (21 or older) engaging in sexual conduct with an older pupil (age 16 or older).

David Pendley was born in 1917 in Kentucky, USA and is an acclaimed bluegrass mandolinist and singer. He was previously the lead vocalist for Ric-o-chet, an independent recording project.

The woman who accused him of sexual assault said he coerced her into performing multiple sexual acts and that she was physically abused. Documents indicate he also informed her that he was married and planning on divorcing his wife, according to the documents.

In October, a former teacher was arrested. Police allege he engaged in sexual misconduct with her while she attended Faith Lutheran School in Summerlin. Documents state he groped her and kissed her inappropriately as well as asking her to join him on a mission trip to Mexico, among other acts of misconduct.

Pendley began his tenure as a middle school theology instructor in April 2015, according to his LinkedIn page. Recently he was arrested on half a dozen charges of sexual contact with students 16 or older, KLAS reported.

Police reports state the victim attempted several times to escape Pendley before he finally let her go. He coerced her into engaging in sexual activity and made her sit on his lap while kissing her, documents reveal.

Police report that the former teacher was informed by her ex-husband he was divorcing her, but she couldn’t tell anyone as no one would believe her. Additionally, he made comments about her breasts and expressed an desire to grab them, police report. Furthermore, documents state he asked her dog sitting services while he and his wife went on a cruise.
