She also helped create a pilot program to train employees in mental health care. During her lifetime, she shaped the field of nursing and was a trailblazer in the field. In 1975, Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde founded the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN). Sadly, Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde died at age 89 in Panama in 2010. Her final days were difficult, as she was afflicted with health problems.
