Earl Daniels – A Man of Many Talents
Earl Daniels was a man of many talents. He made two enjoyable and trashy mid-70s blaxploitation films as a super stud hairdresser and cunning, ruthless pimp.
Wagner utilized his first aid training to assess Daniels’ injury and identify that a tourniquet would be necessary. To create one, he used part of his uniform belt as a tourniquet around Daniels’ leg.

He has an extensive theatre resume, including various productions in London. Additionally, he is a member of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and has appeared on television programs “Never the Sinner” and “As You Like It”.
He has published numerous scholarly articles, presented at national conferences, and received multiple extramural research grants. Dr. McGregor is the founding president and officer of Athens Association for the Study of African American Life and History as well as being an officer in UGA’s Black Faculty and Staff Organization.
His arrest and charges related to participating in a cocaine and crack distribution conspiracy led him to play minor league baseball with Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate in Pacific Coast League. After encountering suspicious dealings between teammates and co-conspirators he was eventually charged and arrested as being part of such scheme.
Achievement and Honors
Daniels held 28 years of space technology leadership roles before retiring as Director of a major military Research and Development Laboratory. As only the second African American to head one, this lab produced advanced space systems including lasers, ground surveillance radars, satellite communications networks and Identification Friend-or-Foe Equipment along with Meteorological Data Systems.
He is the author of numerous scholarly articles and presented at national conferences on civil rights and social reform issues. Additionally, he founded the Athens Association for the Study of African American Life and History; is a charter member of Athens Area Habitat for Humanity; and served as president of UGA’s Black Faculty and Staff Organization.
Personal Life
Earl Daniels was an astute student of the Bible who surrendered his life to Christ early in his life. Committed to helping humanity, Earl spent much of his time at Le’Var’s Residential Care Facility and Maude’s Boarding Home in Allendale, South Carolina caring for others.
He was a long-standing member of Butler Chapel A.M.E Zion Church in Amite, Louisiana and leaves behind his loving wife Zula Jones Daniels; two daughters Yolanda Daniel-Peters and Keisha Daniel-Peters; two grandchildren Camrod Peters and Jalyn Levias as well as many nieces and nephews.
Daniels served in the U.S. Navy from 1966-2072 and died peacefully on December 3, 2022 in Dallas, Texas at 75 years old. He is survived by his brother Paul C. Daniels of Nikiski, Alaska.
