Encanto Capybara

Encanto and Chispi the Capybara

The animated movie Encanto takes place in a Colombia valley and features colorful Colombian nature, a friendly Jaguar named Parce, and flocks of butterflies. Chispi the Capybara is one of the central characters in this film. The Capybara is the largest rodent species in the world and is native to South America.

Encanto is set in Colombia, where greater capybaras live. Recently, the Houston Zoo named two new Capybara pups after the characters in the film. The babies were born on April 11. They have webbed feet that make them semi-aquatic. They can walk on soft ground but can dive to a watery body for comfort.
