Gavin DeGraw No Hat
Gavin DeGraw was born in Middletown, New York on February 4, 1977. He is a pianist, singer and songwriter. His mother was a detoxification specialist and his father was a prison guard. He is the youngest of three siblings. His grandfather was a self-taught musician and played organ, harmonica and guitar. During his childhood, the family spent time together while the parents worked. The two of them sang along to songs by Elton John and Billy Joel.
At a young age, DeGraw began writing songs. He also learned to play the piano from his brother Joey. After his first semester at Berklee College of Music, he dropped out. He played in a band for a while, and at some point, he decided to pursue music independently.
In 2002, he was discovered by Clive Davis. They made a recording deal. His first album, Sweeter, was released under RCA Records. In the same year, he wrote “I Don’t Want to Be” which has become a favorite among American Idol contestants. The song reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
DeGraw is currently touring the U.S., and has also appeared on TV. He has been a musical guest on Ellen and Jay Leno. He performed in the “Real Magic” TV show, on the “The Sharon Osbourne Show” and appeared on NBC’s “Last Call with Carson Daly.” He also was a featured performer on the American Music Awards. In 2008, he released a live CD, Gavin DeGraw Live From Soho.
Gavin DeGraw has been hailed as a country music star. His music has been recognized by the radio stations of the United States and abroad. He was also the presenter at the 2011 American Music Awards. He has released several music videos. One of his videos was a selection for the Cingular Wireless contest. His second album, Chariot, was certified platinum. It includes a number of soulful ballads and quicker paced rock tunes.
He has appeared on television shows such as American Dreams, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Rove Live, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Sharon Osbourne Show. He has been a musical guest on the radio stations of the United States and abroad.
He has a loyal following among under-30 female fans. His latest tour, the Face the River tour, will take him to Clearwater, Florida and Madison, Wisconsin. He is excited to share his music with the fans of the tour. The tour will run from August and September.
When he isn’t touring, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing in his own band. His brother, Joey, has been instrumental in his career. His sister, Angela, is also a professional singer. He is also working on a fourth album, which will be released in 2011. He has been touring the U.S., and is currently on the road with Wrabel. He has also been a musical guest on Jensen!
