Early Life and Education
George Roth was raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Berkeley University but had to drop out due to the Great Depression.
He was then hired by Shell Oil as a geological draftsman in their Long Beach office, working his way up through positions as scout and landman, eventually becoming a petroleum geologist.
After his successful tenure with Shell, George went on to work for William Ross Cabeen and Associates in North Hollywood, where he created software solutions for investment companies and was part of the forefront of a technology revolution.
He later moved to the US and began working as a software architect for an enterprise software provider for financial data processing. After 10 years of success, he launched his own company called Recognos.

He is currently a research scientist at MIT’s Institute for Data, Systems and Society IDSS. His focus is on helping companies increase their organizational capacity through systemic change management techniques and executive coaching.
Personal Life
George Roth was an active and long-standing member of his community, particularly Rangeley. He served on both the sewer and water commissions for many years and also provided computer support to the city.
He was actively involved in his local church and donated his time to the Lions Club. Furthermore, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was married to Claire Bloom for 17 years, during which time they had two children. He was an amazing father and friend to his family, leaving behind his wife and children whom he will greatly miss.
