Henry Hasselbeck, Son of Former NFL Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, Committed to Michigan State

2024 quarterback Henry Hasselbeck made an impressionful first impression during his inaugural Friday Night Football game with the Xaverian Hawks. He even scored on an 11-yard touchdown run by sprinting from 5-yard line into end zone from 5-yards out.

Hasselbeck initially intended to play lacrosse at college; however, after an impressive season at Xaverian he has received interest and offers from Pitt and Boston College (where his father Matt played before going onto an extended NFL career).

Early Life and Education

Henry Hasselbeck grew up surrounded by sports. His father Matt Hasselbeck is a three-time Pro Bowl quarterback who spent 17 seasons with Seattle Seahawks and amassed more than 36,000 passing yards during that time.

Hasselbeck and Sarah, their daughter Annabelle and Mallory live with them all across the U.S. including two stints in Tennessee.

Henry Henry is a top college recruit in both football and lacrosse. Currently serving as quarterback at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts – Pitt and UAB have offered his services; previously Maryland lacrosse had committed. Henry’s father encouraged both sports, but ultimately decided on football.

Professional Career

Henry Hasselbeck, son of former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, has announced his commitment to Michigan State for football this fall. Henry previously competed nationally as a lacrosse player but switched sports this spring; choosing Michigan State over Boston College and Pitt.

Hasselbeck stands 6-foot-3 and 170-pounds and holds the name of a Pro Bowl quarterback, but has also proven he can play at a high level against top competition. His presence helps contribute to why Xaverian Brothers High School stands as one of Massachusetts’ premier programs; and it’s expected that he’ll play an instrumental role next season.

Achievement and Honors

Henry Hasselbeck is one of the top quarterbacks in high school football today, throwing for over 1,400 yards and 20 touchdowns at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts last season.

He is a three-star recruit in the class of 2024. Initially committed to Maryland to play lacrosse but changed his decision after receiving offers from multiple Power Five programs for fall of 2024.

At his high school career is also an accomplished baseball athlete, winning numerous awards and honors including NSAA Division II All-American Award. Henry enjoys strong family bonds and they are extremely proud of his accomplishments – Annabelle and Mallory being his daughters; his son Henry being his son.

Personal Life

Henry Hasselbeck is a three-star quarterback prospect with offers from Pitt, UAB, Boston College and Arizona as well as Harvard and Dartmouth. His father Matt spent 17 seasons as Seattle Seahawks quarterback and won six Pro Bowls during that time.

He currently serves as an analyst on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown show, while his grandfather Don was a tight end for the New England Patriots and Sarah is an accomplished field hockey player who represented both junior and senior US women’s national teams during her field hockey career.

At Xaverian Brothers Academy in Westwood, Massachusetts – where he’s also starting quarterback – Hasselbeck has garnered plenty of recognition for both his football and lacrosse abilities. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Hasselbeck ranks among the top 67 quarterback recruits of class of 2024.
