Hilton Head Pickleball Open 2022
Hilton Head Pickleball Open 2022
During the past year, the Hilton Head Island Pickleball Club has used 11 of the 18 courts located on the island. The club has more than 300 members, and has been running leagues on a number of courts at various times throughout the year. In addition to the pickleball tournaments, the club hosts clinics for all ages and levels of play. This year, they held a St. Patrick’s Day charity tournament that raised $2,440 for SOAR Special Recreation of the Lowcountry.
The APP Sunmed Pickleball Open is the association’s “golden ticket” event, and will include amateur and pro events. The event is a multi-day affair and features a hefty prize purse. The tournament is hosted by the Palmetto Dunes Tennis and Pickleball Center on Hilton Head Island, and the event is part of the tour’s upcoming schedule. In fact, Palmetto Dunes has been a long time supporter of the sport, and has a history of hosting pickleball tournaments.
The APP tour will add 31 events to its schedule in 2022, doubling its prize money to $1.4 million. In addition to the APP Open, the tour will also host several other tournaments with over $25,000 in prize money. In addition to a prize money bonanza, the APP has announced that all of the top 20 players from the Hilton Head event will be awarded a free entry to the USA Pickleball Nationals in Indian Wells, California. Moreover, all gold medal winners will receive pre-registration for the event. The association has also announced that it will host its first ever international tournament in 2021. This is a significant step forward for the growing sport, and will help to promote the sport to an expanded audience.
Other tournaments on the APP’s calendar for 2022 include the APP Open at Palmetto Dunes, the APP Open at Chaplin Community Park, and the APP Open at Crossings Park. A full list of all events and prize money is available on the tour’s website. In addition, players and guests may purchase ground passes on non-event days. The APP’s website also includes an extensive list of pickleball tournaments for the whole family, from the local to the national level.
In addition to a prize purse that’s double what it was last year, the APP’s upcoming schedule also includes a number of other exciting tournaments. Some of the notable ones include the APP Open at Palmetto Beach, a tournament that will draw more than 400 players. In addition, the APP will also host a number of events at Chaplin Community Park, a community park that has been a regular pickleball destination. In addition to the APP, the Town Council is moving forward with plans for a mid-island park, which will make Chaplin Community Park a natural home for pickleball players.
The APP also has the largest prize money bonanza of any pickleball tournament on the circuit, including the APP Open at Palmetto Bluff. This event, which is being held on March 14-17, will feature a full day of pro events and tournaments, as well as a half-day of amateur events.
