Jack Ruddy spent seven to 12 years studying under goalkeeper Andy Goram at Rangers before migrating to Spain where he played with Real Murcia’s youth team before receiving an invite from top-flight club Villarreal for trials.

Roy Hodgson had selected Butland as part of England’s Euro 2012 squad but unfortunately suffered a broken finger during training, prompting Birmingham City uncapped player Jack Butland from being promoted from standby status and taken up as his replacement.

Early Life and Education

Jack Ruddy attributes his engaging demeanor and natural communication skills to his modest upbringing as the 12th child of a Nassau County police lieutenant and homemaker. Growing up with such a large family taught him the ability to listen, negotiate, share and collaborate – traits which continue to serve him well today as CEO of Newsmax.

After his junior year at First Colonial High School, Ruddy relocated to England with his parents. While living in various accommodations before signing with League One side Bury FC – Ruddy also worked with Operation Smile helping children born with cleft lips and palates.

Ruddy remains modest, self-effacing and gives back as part of his daily routine. While revenues under his leadership have reached over $100 million, he continues to regard himself as humble and low key. His connection with UVa remains important and making charitable giving his priority is key part of life for him.

Professional Career

Jack Ruddy began his professional footballing journey at Glasgow Rangers before migrating to Spain at 15 to join Real Murcia youth teams and Villarreal. Unfortunately, due to new regulations introduced following FIFA rule breaches at Barcelona his path in Spain became blocked.

Ruddy then returned to England, joining Bury. On November 14, 2015 – making his professional debut against Gillingham 3-1 League One on November 14, 2015.

He has been loaned out to various clubs including Oldham Athletic, Ayr United in Scotland and FC Jumilla/SS Reyes in Spain. Additionally, he has represented Scotland at U17/U19/U21 levels as well as currently on short-term deal with Plymouth Argyle of Scotland Premiership side.

Achievement and Honors

Ruddy was honored with the Class 5 Male Athlete of the Year honor by Virginia High School League, an accolade given to student-athletes who excel in classroom and community activities. Additionally, he led his team to two MAPL Conference titles.

He joined Spanish Segunda Division B club FC Jumilla on loan in August 2018 and made four appearances before being sent off due to insulting the referee during one of these matches.

He represented Scotland at an under-19 tournament in Germany in September 2015 and earned his first cap there against the United States, drawing 2-2. Subsequently he made his under-20 debut at Toulon Tournament 2017, earning bronze with his squad.

Personal Life

Ruddy is an active philanthropist who uses his success as a soccer player as a platform to give back. He has donated to Operation Smile, an organization which provides help for children with cleft conditions. Furthermore, he founded the Princeton Turkey Shootout, a youth lacrosse tournament which raises money for Trenton Bridge Program.

In 2021, following a successful trial for League One club Plymouth Argyle, he signed on a short-term contract and made his debut in an EFL Trophy game before coming off the bench in two league matches while Luke McCormick recovered from shoulder injuries.

He later moved to Scottish Premiership side East Kilbride before making the jump to Isthmian League Premier Division club Cowdenbeath and eventually on loan to Spanish Segunda Division B side FC Jumilla in August 2018.

Ruddy has enjoyed an outstanding career as a producer. His credits include working on hit films like “The Godfather,” which earned an Academy Award nomination and Best Picture win; prison sports comedy The Longest Yard; and adult animated blaxploitation film Coonskin.”

Ruddy co-created and co-wrote the groundbreaking crime show “Walker, Texas Ranger” featuring Chuck Norris which became an unparalleled success for both of them. Additionally, she served as executive producer on Paramount+ miniseries called “The Offer”.
