Adams was both an attorney and environmentalist who actively campaigned to save endangered species, producing non-fiction radio show Last Chance to See as well as publishing a companion book with this title.

She holds both a Bachelor of Arts from University of Washington and Master of Social Work degree from Georgia State University, earning both her license as clinical social worker as well as working in outpatient community mental health services, inpatient behavioral health facilities and an innovative Dialectal Behavior Therapy-based program with adolescents and adults.

She currently holds positions as principal of the Regional Evening School – a vocational alternative community education center located in Jefferson, GA – and director of Vocational, Alternative, Community Education with Jefferson City Public Schools. Through her teaching and leadership abilities, she has contributed immensely towards bettering many lives throughout her region.

Personal Life

Janet was a woman of many talents; she excelled at sewing and was passionate about giving back to others. As part of her volunteering efforts, she donated her time and skills to knit or sew baby hats, blankets and sweaters for homeless children and their families.

She enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband of 61 years, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as close friends. Additionally, she found great pleasure reading books and watching sports such as Chicago Bulls and Green Bay Packers games on television.

She was a licensed clinical social worker in Georgia, trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing – using them all as tools to assist her clients. She truly believed in taking a systems approach when working with clients to harness their strengths.
