John Jorstad
John Jorstad
John is an aggressive and disruptive child who has caused extensive physical harm to school property. He has wrecked a “time out” room and stolen classroom decorations.
Teachers such as Margaret Genotte, resource teacher for special education services at Blocker Middle School, have indicated that he would benefit from a behavioral management class. This setting would provide him with more structure while still giving him access to academic instruction similar to what he receives in general classes.
Early Life and Education
Early years are critical windows of opportunity for children and their education. They lay the groundwork for academic success, economic productivity, responsible citizenship and lifelong health.
According to UNESCO, this period in a child’s life provides them with the foundations for social and emotional development that will shape their success throughout adulthood. By understanding these psychosocial and developmental stages that occur between birth and adolescence, parents, educators, and policymakers can foster an environment in which all children can flourish.
National’s BAECE program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and abilities needed to work with young children. For instance, a popular class entitled “Play as Pedagogy” emphasizes how essential play is for early childhood education.
