Having grown up in the heart of Connecticut’s wine country, John had many opportunities to sample the best that the state has to offer. He was also lucky enough to have spent a good portion of his life on the road, from Connecticut to Texas and back again. He was also lucky enough to marry the love of his life, Beth. He is survived by his wife, daughter and a large extended family.
Labella is a medical professional with over 32 years of experience in the field of pediatrics. He is currently licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Pennsylvania State Medical Society. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.
Professional Career
John Labella has a storied professional career in broadcasting. He has worked as a television host, producer, director and writer.
His writing credits include Moses the Lawgiver, which starred Burt Lancaster and won an Emmy for outstanding miniseries in 1974. He was also co-producer of Marco Polo, which won the Golden Rudder at the Venice Film Festival.
He also co-produced From a Far Country, about the life of Pope John Paul II. Other projects included a series of documentaries about the Vatican Library.
LaBella worked at KZPS, KRRW, KBFB and, finally, KMEO, Memories 96.7. He died March 4, 2002 in a freak accident on Interstate 30 that left his family, friends and fans devastated.

Labella was an aficionado of all things history-related. He was an accomplished writer, producer and film buff with an impressive list of honors to his name. His most notable achievements included helming one of the largest and most impressive soundstages in all of television, a gig that took him from Boston to Los Angeles. Other major accomplishments include writing the screenplay for the acclaimed miniseries Moses the lawgiver; co-writing A.D., the longest running and most prestigious drama series in television history; securing an Oscar nod for best production design; and starring in a televised one man show.
He is survived by his wife Beth and their daughter Elise, as well as two brothers in Portland, Connecticut and Kemp, Texas. He was a proud and devoted husband and father who adored his family more than anything in his life.
