John Larimer passed away at 27 in Aurora, Colorado at age 27, leaving behind a bereaved family and close friends who will surely miss him dearly.

He served his nation as a cryptologic technician in the Navy, representing the fourth generation to serve their nation. As leader of his unit and esteemed team member, he earned respect from everyone around him.

Early Life and Education

John Larimer was an intelligent and humorous young man with so much to offer the world. He made friends easily and his sense of humor allowed him to laugh through difficult situations while finding the positive outcome from each circumstance. His kind heart made him a treasure to those around him.

He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with degrees in political science and history. Additionally, he was active with Phi Alpha Theta – an honor society for national history – at UW-Whitewater.

He joined the United States Navy after graduating college. A fourth generation sailor, he served as a cryptologic technician at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo. Tragically, on July 20th a mass shooting occurred at a movie theater.

Professional Career

Larimer earned a reputation for scholarship and thoroughness during his 30-year tenure as town attorney of Windsor. As such, he remains an active participant in the legal community in the region, being highly respected by attorneys, judges, and judicial staff throughout the Western District of Colorado.

Larimer has a serious side, but also has a playful streak. He is an accomplished comedian, and it’s his laugh that people remember most when discussing him.

He is a lawyer by profession and runs the Global Orphan Project, an advocacy initiative for orphaned children worldwide. Additionally, he founded CarePortal – a technology platform that allows local churches and agencies to organize and share data regarding orphans; furthermore, he serves as foster parent himself.
