John Laxson
John Laxson is the co-founder and CTO of Reveal Technology. This startup produces 2D/3D maps as well as performing analytics on aerial data that are deployed on mobile devices at the edge.
He was born in Salisaw, Oklahoma and grew up in Texas before moving to Los Angeles. In 1938 he wed Lyda James and served in the Marines during WWII in the South Pacific.
Early Life and Education
On March 27th, 1939 in Oklahoma, Loraine Darwin Laxson and Imogene Laxson (nee Emmons) welcomed 27 year old Laxson into the world.
His family moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi when he was in middle school. While in high school, he made friends who struggled socially and stood up to bullies who picked on others. Graduating from Mississippi State University in 2012, he is currently employed at Gluckstadt Dental Clinic in Georgia.
Last week, he was tragically killed while responding to a shooting at a Rex home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at First Baptist Jonesboro and the family has asked that those attending wear shades of blue in his honor. People can also donate through his GoFundMe page in memory of him.
Professional Career
John Laxson is the Vice President of Software Innovation for Kespry, a leader in high-precision positioning technologies. He oversees the company’s 2D and 3D mapping solutions as well as analytics on aerial data that are deployed on mobile devices at the edge. A Stanford graduate, John has extensive experience as a disaster services technology specialist across America.
In addition to his work at Reveal Technology, he also serves as a financial adviser for Laxson Financial Group. With over 23 years of experience in the financial services industry, he strives to give clear and concise explanations of all products and services so his clients can make informed decisions about their investments. In his free time he enjoys fishing and spending time with his family.
Achievements and Honors
At the 1943 Midwest Conference track and field meet, Laxson put on one of his best single-day performances as a Fighting Scot athlete. He earned first-place honors in the 220-yard dash, pole vault and 200-yard low hurdles events – setting a conference record with a time of 24.2%.
Laxson had a long list of professional accomplishments when he served as a police officer for Clayton County Department of Public Safety, joining their TIGER unit and becoming part of SWAT team. He also earned three consecutive Officer of the Year awards before tragically passing away on Nov. 30 while performing his duty. Thousands gathered to pay their respects and celebrate his life that day in memorial park.
Personal Life
John Laxson is a resident of the Santa Ynez Valley community in California and owner and operator of Uncle John’s Kitchen, an eatery located in Skamania.
He was born in Salisaw, Oklahoma and married Lyda James in 1938. After serving with the Marines during WWII, he worked for Lord Babcock Plumbing Supply in Los Angeles before joining their church community as a member. On February 1st he passed away peacefully at 64 years old surrounded by family: wife Betsy Sue Smoot Laxson; daughters Pamela Laxson and Luanne Laxson both of Morrison; sons Bill Laxson of Manchester and Dan Laxson of Hillsboro; sister Jessie Kelley; brother Quinn “Red” Laxson (Hillsboro); sisters-in-law Mary Lou Ware Laxson Manchester and LoWanda Maxwell Laxson (Hillsboro); numerous nephews and nieces as well.
