Early Life and Education
Education in the early years is essential for a child’s development. During this time, children develop skills like self-confidence and emotional control. Small class sizes and teacher interaction help build these skills in an environment that promotes trust, respect, and positive self-belief.
National University’s Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education Program focuses on developing teachers who understand the importance of these critical years and the relationships students form during that time. Among other things, this program addresses research in brain development and cognition, how to use that research to teach, and the best ways to support classroom instruction.
A strong school-family partnership is especially important in early childhood education, and a strong school environment can dramatically reduce the negative impacts of stress and neglect. Increasing the availability, affordability, and quality of early learning is crucial for ensuring our youngest learners have the tools they need to succeed in life and in school.
