Early Life and Education
Kygo, also known by his initials Kyrre Gorvell-Dahll, is a Norwegian electronic musician best known for his breezy strain of tropical house music that has garnered him worldwide popularity. This relaxed style often includes steel drums and pan flutes; perfect for relaxing beach-side.
At six, he began piano lessons and began producing with a MIDI keyboard and Logic Studio at age 15. At 15, he learned production techniques through YouTube tutorials before leaving university in Scotland to follow in Avicii’s footsteps by dedicating his life fully to music production.
Kygo’s debut album, Cloud Nine, was released on 13 May 2016 and includes collaborations with artists such as Parson James, Tom Odell, LP Giobbi, Sam Feldt, Oliver Heldens and Jonas Blue.
Kygo’s Palm Tree Festival will return for its third installment this August on Pag’s shores after already taking place in both Hamptons and Mexico. Featured artists will include Don Diablo, Felix Jaehn, Forester Jonas Blue LP Giobbi Sam Feldt Yotto.
Palm Tree’s event was part of its larger brand strategy to replicate Margaritaville’s boat-and-beach lifestyle with restaurants, hotels and stores designed to look similar. Music also helps create this atmosphere, and investments include plant-based chicken (Daring), gin-based seltzers (Long Drink), and healthy prebiotic sodas (Poppi).
Kygo has established himself as an influential force in dance music with his tropical house tunes and immersive events, carving out a niche for himself in this genre. His signature mellowness serves as an outward reflection of his brand identity – essential in maintaining its ongoing success.
