John Stout and Liam Hupka – The Best Defensive Duo in Minnesota High School Hockey

Liam Hupka and John Stout, who recently committed to Michigan State, formed one of the top defensive duos in high school hockey. Together they led Minnetonka to another Lake Conference championship and finished second at state Class 2A tournament. Hagen Burrows also features prominently among Minnetonka’s top unit.

Professional Career

John Stout and Liam Hupka were sure to arrive at the Pagel Activities Center parking lot together on Saturday – no coincidence; that is how Minnesota high school hockey’s premier defenseman tandem like it. Their unplanned parking-lot choreography extended into Minnetonka’s game against Rogers, where their dominating performance led to their team winning 5-0; specifically Stout, an undergrad at U-Duluth who is known for both power play and penalty kill capabilities.
