The Case of Lucas Swanson v Del Prado Partnership
In this case, the Del Prado partnership sued Lucas for libel and economic interference due to his statements in their newsletter that were false. Lucas countered by asserting his statements were protected under freedoms such as petition and free speech that prevented tort claims.
Lucas prevailed at trial court and dismissed their action; however, their partnership decided to file an appeal and uphold their victory in court.
