Rapper Mystikal has had numerous run-ins with the law. He served six years for sexual battery charges against his former hair stylist.

Mystikal Tyler (real name Michael Lawrence Tyler), raised in New Orleans’ 12th Ward by Marie and Michelle Tyler was raised with love and support – with Marie giving them encouragement to excel academically while staying away from drug dealing and violence.

Mystik’s rise to power ceased abruptly in 2002, when he was arrested for raping his hairstylist and forcing her to perform sexual acts with two bodyguards; according to court documents she stated they beat and forced her to perform these sex acts, and made her cash $80,000 worth of unauthorzed checks from Mystikal’s bank account.

Reports indicate he reportedly berated, punched and choked the woman before she raped her. After she completed her assault he apologized profusely and splashed some rubbing alcohol onto her to rid herself of bad spirits; later having her kneel beside him before praying with her for several minutes.

Michael Lawrence Tyler, better known by his stage name Mystikal, is an iconic American rapper. His music career started back in 1994 with the release of his independent album that eventually peaked at various music charts and brought him great renown and success. However, in January 2004 Mystikal received six years in prison due to sexual battery of his hairdresser.

Mystikal is widely recognized for his musical collaborations with Master P and other acclaimed artists. Additionally, his feuds with other rappers has garnered him much notoriety; and he has dated multiple women such as Nivea B. Hamilton and Karrine Steffans, an author best known for her ‘Video Vixen’ book series that featured in Mystikal’s 2000 music video for Danger.

Michelle Tyler was brutally murdered at her home on September 19th 1994; she had been stabbed 16 times before she was strangled with an old radio cord. Michelle Tyler’s boyfriend at the time was initially charged, but was later released due to insufficient evidence against him.

Michael Lawrence Tyler was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on 22 September 1970. Following the early loss of his father, he was raised by his mother before joining the US Army as a combat engineer and eventually becoming a professional rapper.

His first album, Mind of Mystikal, became an overwhelming commercial success and continued his career with Unpredictable, Ghetto Fabulous and Let’s Get Ready before leaving No Limit in 2000. However, in 2004 the rapper was charged with sexual battery and jailed for six years.
