After Hurricane Gloria left the town without electricity, New England Pizza became a haven for hungry locals. The restaurant even had an oven that operated independently from the power grid. Located at 913 Hartford Turnpike in Vernon, Connecticut, the restaurant specializes in pizza, grinders, Italian dinners and pasta. It is open seven days a week and offers a variety of weekly specials.

This restaurant has been in business for nearly four decades, and its owner, Dmitri Hatzisavvas, grew up in the food service industry. His father worked in several restaurants before he opened his own. He opened his own restaurant in Vernon to continue the family tradition.
