Chaminade High School Senior Nilavan Daniels
Chaminade hosted its Highland Shootout competition this past weekend, which featured some of the top teams from around the region. Nilavan Daniels played an instrumental role in leading his Red Devils to an upset win against St. Rita Academy.
North Carolina commit Fish is an intelligent player with great length who possesses deep shot abilities and who consistently wins games. Bound for Iowa State University, Fish is an all-purpose four man who excels at scoring multiple ways while also protecting his perimeter effectively.
Professional Career
Nilavan Daniels was an integral player on Chaminade basketball this season. Averaging over 20 points per game and leading his team in terms of scoring as well as rebounding ability.
Chaminade faced off against Chicago-based St. Rita School during the Highland Shootout and emerged victorious, led by Daniels’ 21 point performance and win.
Daniels is an outstanding 6-foot-3 long range shooter who shows much promise as a college player. Still unsigned, but deserving serious consideration from Division 2 programs for consideration as an ideal defensive asset.
Achievement and Honors
Nilavan Daniels of Chaminade stands out as an outstanding guard leading their Red Devils this year. A strong shooter from long range, Daniels boasts an impressive skill set alongside toughness and leadership qualities that has proven successful against some top area teams such as St Rita from Chicago at this year’s Highland Shootout tournament. Daniels leads his team in scoring with over 20 points per game while also being an elite rebounder; unfortunately he still has not received an offer to Division 2. BJ Ward and Ben Winker are also key contributors who help lead their Red Devils team a year’s efforts.
Personal Life
The Highland Shootout is always an exciting high school basketball event to witness as the top teams from around Chicago square off against each other. Chaminade took one of the featured games this year by defeating St Rita of Chicago 60-57; Nilavan Daniels led Chaminade with 21 points while hitting five three pointers during their win.
Daniels is an impressive shooter from deep, possessing poise, skill and toughness – an underrated player with tremendous potential who deserves consideration at Division 2. BJ Ward and Ben Winker provide strong supporting cast for him to give the Red Devils every edge they need to succeed and currently hold an eight-game winning streak as part of MCC.
