Earl first established the medieval theater-themed restaurant known as Beefeater in 1972 and quickly expanded with other themed restaurants like Talk of London, Cockney Club and Shakespeare’s Tavern – each drawing tourists.

Early Life and Education

Earl was raised on the road with his British singer father, traveling across America and abroad with them. Though lacking natural musical talent himself, Earl recalls becoming fascinated with show business from an early age.

Earl joined forces with movie producer Keith Barish to establish Planet Hollywood restaurant in 1989. Featuring celebrity memorabilia and drawing large crowds hoping to spot their favorite stars, Planet Hollywood quickly gained a following among tourists and movie buffs. Earl currently serves as Planet Hollywood’s chairman and CEO as well as owning and operating Earl of Sandwich shops throughout the U.S.

Personal Life

Earl is an active philanthropist who supports educational and cultural institutions, including donating to the New York City Ballet and investing in English Premier League soccer team Everton FC as an initial investor.
