Steve McDermott has long had a passion for education. Among his many roles within it, including school principal and curriculum director roles, as well as teaching art classes, coaching football games, six-on-six girls’ basketball tournaments and track and field events he is passionate about helping to better our future generations.
He has worked at his family farm, located in southwest Iowa. This three-hundred acre property has been owned by them since 1943.
McDermott moved back to southwest Iowa in 1999 as shared superintendent of B-F and Greenfield Schools, overseeing their merger into what is now Nodaway Valley Community School District. Additionally, he holds memberships at Union County Development Association, Creston Rotary Club and First United Methodist Church of Creston.

Steve was not only active with the Partnership but was also responsible for creating an immensely popular beach music concert series at Presque Isle State Park that draws over 20,000 people each summer Wednesday to watch live bands play live music performances. Additionally, he was an enthusiastic supporter of community organizations such as Union County Development Association, Creston Rotary Club and First United Methodist Church of Creston.
