Steven Herr is best known for his literary journalism on the Vietnam War in Dispatches. It was listed among some of the most influential works on that conflict alongside Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried and Neil Sheehan’s A Bright Shining Lie.

Early Life and Education

Herr is an enthusiastic educator who champions holistic education for his students. He employs his teaching abilities in all facets of his life. Herr strongly adheres to Alice Lloyd College’s Purpose Road philosophy, which equips young people to be successful, happy and understanding individuals.

His career with Big Red began strongly, earning a fourth-place finish at the Brother Jasper Invitational and then placing 70th at Ivy League Cross Country Championships before qualifying for IC4A Outdoor Heptagonals 1500 race.

Detectives quickly realized money had been taken out of Sam’s bank account by Daniel Wozniak – his roommate desperate for cash; Sam having thousands saved up through Army service in Afghanistan was his killer.
