Early Life and Education
He holds both a Bachelor’s of Theatre Education from the University of Arizona and an M.F.A in Directing from Florida State University, along with teaching and leadership experience at Eastern Kentucky University, Eastern Arizona College, Pima Community College, and Coastal Carolina University.
Higginbotham intends to bring students closer by hosting town hall meetings, meeting with student organizations and offering them another platform through which to voice their concerns.
He is the lead vocalist for Houston-based indie rock band The Wheel Workers and recently premiered an innovative new video for “Sing” on Preview from Houston Chronicle Facebook page – marking an enormous comeback after fractured larynx surgery made him think singing was no longer possible!

Steven Higginbotham has over 25 years of professional theatre experience as a director, choreographer, educator, and performer in collegiate, community, and professional theatre organizations. He earned both a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Education from the University of Arizona as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Directing for Theatre from Florida State University.
