Steven Pollakov Is Thriving As a Hitting Coach

JOLIET – Steven Pollakov is flourishing in his new career path. Last seen playing for the White Sox’s Rookie League team Great Falls Voyagers in 2016, he now serves as hitting coach for Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League.

He’s currently helping some of the club’s top prospects hone their hitting abilities.

Early Life and Education

Steven Pollakov earned all-conference status and a Division I offer from University of Richmond as a junior at Buffalo Grove High School, however he opted instead for Orange Coast College and University of Hawaii instead. Although turned down by many schools, 2010 graduate Steven Pollakov did not let it deter him from pitching himself professionally to professional teams such as Chicago White Sox (he spent one season playing the California Winter League before signing), which became his goalie team; since then he is working in Dominican Republic helping coach hitting analytics assisting Ron and Ruth Pollakov who were born in Park Ridge Illinois as their son Ron is married Melissa and has two children while enjoying weightlifting and reading in his free time!

Professional Career

Steven Pollakov has embarked on an unlikely path toward fulfilling his goal of playing professional baseball. A graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, this catcher is now participating in his inaugural season as part of Great Falls (Montana) Voyagers, White Sox Rookie League affiliate team.

At Brunswick Community College, he earned NJCAA Division II All-America status before transferring to Coastal Carolina and contributing to their run for an NCAA regional title this year.

Pollakov has been working closely with Chicago’s top prospects this season as their minor league hitting coordinator, alongside Rachel Folden and Buddy Bailey of Low-A Myrtle Beach respectively. These three work closely together with assistant hitting coordinator Dustin Kelly.

Achievement and Honors

Pollakov is also active in community service. Along with his wife, they organize an annual event called “Bikes for Kids,” providing bicycles to underprivileged children. Pollakov also holds membership with Poway Park Ranger Volunteers and various committees.

In 2015, he joined the University of Hawai’i baseball team as both a catcher and pinch hitter, helping achieve a.133 batting average with two RBI.

“He has served as hitting coordinator for several of the Cubs top prospects, including Pete Crow-Armstrong, Kevin Alcantara and James Triantos. A native of Park Ridge Illinois who graduated from Buffalo Grove High School with honors. At Orange Coast College he studied philosophy with an emphasis in Spanish as a baseball standout before majoring in philosophy with an additional minor.

Personal Life

Steve Pollakov, 29, attended Buffalo Grove High School (IL). After playing college baseball at Orange Coast College and University of Hawaii, he is now working as the assistant hitting coordinator with both Chicago Cubs and Low-A Myrtle Beach.

He has helped develop many top Cubs prospects such as Pete Crow-Armstrong, James Triantos and Kevin Alcantara. Mark Weisman was his teammate as they progressed through youth baseball; today they work side-by-side within the organization.

Pollakov enjoys weightlifting and reading in his free time. Along with his wife, they volunteer at a local charity that gives away bikes to children who cannot afford them; they raise funds through fundraising events and host an annual party for these recipients who each receive one as gifts from them – giving out over 1000 bikes since 2015 when the nonprofit began! Giving back has become an important part of both their lives.
