Thomas Pumps – More Than Just Pumps
Thomas offers an unmatched variety of standard products in the pump industry, but customers consider Thomas products more than mere commodity; many use them as platforms from which pressure or vacuum solutions can quickly be designed and prototyped.
Thomas was able to refine its focus during this period through several acquisitions. For instance, in the late 1970s Thomas acquired both Portland Willamette Company and Builders Brass Works Corporation to expand its residential lighting divisions.
Early Life and Education
Thomas has been producing school buses in High Point since 1936. Their initial designs consisted of conventional bodies connected to cowled truck chassis; by 1957, the Thomas Saf-T-Liner name debuted to indicate updated designs with single piece windshields. 1980 saw the debut of Thomas Minotour as a van-style school bus to compete against Blue Bird Micro Bird and Wayne Busette school buses; soon thereafter came WestCoastER which shared both bodywork design and windshield with Saf-T-Liner EFX/HDX; this model comes in both 84 and 90 passenger configurations for maximum flexibility of sales potential.
