Tiffani Faison is an American chef, restaurateur, television personality and author best known for her appearances on television programs as well as owning several restaurants in Boston.
Jody Lee first came into prominence as a contestant on Season One of Top Chef, which kicked-start her culinary career. Now she owns and operates Sweet Cheeks Q barbecue restaurant in Boston’s Fenway neighbourhood.
Early Life and Education
Faison was born in Bremerhaven, Germany, but spent much of her early life being relocated due to her military service father’s career. In an interview with Boston Magazine, Faison described him as a heavy drinker and angry person – factors which may have contributed to their divorce while she was still attending high school.
Faison gained employment after appearing on Top Chef, taking on her first professional position as a cook at Straight Wharf restaurant in Nantucket, Massachusetts under chefs Amanda Lydon and Gabriel Frasca. Additionally, Faison served as chef de partie for Daniel Boulud’s Michelin-rated restaurants at Wynn Las Vegas and Tao at The Venetian.
In 2011, she opened Sweet Cheeks Q in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, followed by Tiger Mama – an Asian-influenced restaurant – in December 2015.
