Jack Hanna and the Wanamingo Jacks
The Austin Greyhounds failed to generate much offense during an 8-1 loss against Wanamingo Jacks at Marcusen Park Wednesday night. Austin starter Jack Dankert looked strong for four innings as he retired 10 consecutive batters before getting into some difficulty in the top of fifth.
Fox 9’s Town Ball Tour will bring increased exposure to two southern Minnesota baseball parks this week when they visit New Ulm’s Mueller Park and Crookston’s Memorial Fields.
Early Life and Education
Jack was raised in Faribault, Minnesota where he attended Kenyon-Wanamingo High School and later Augsburg College. Growing up surrounded by animals taught him by Dr. Roberts at Kenyon-Wanamingo High School to love them and care for them properly. From Good Morning America he went on to appear regularly as wildlife correspondent for over 35 years; other shows he has appeared on include The Late Show with David Letterman and Maury.
Jack Hanna and his animal ambassador friends appeared on many television programs such as Good Morning America, The Late Show with David Letterman (where Jack first met giraffe Sahara in 1985), Maury Show, Entertainment Tonight and Ellen DeGeneres Show to name just a few. They were frequent guests on CBS game show Hollywood Squares as well as wildlife correspondents for CNN programs and FOX News programs. These media appearances also helped him raise funds to turn Columbus Zoo and Aquarium into an amazing modern park that includes Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and Safari Golf Club – helping Jack raise enough funds for expansion efforts at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium as he helped transform into state-of-the-art facility complete with Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and Safari Golf Club membership!
